Temane - 1000MW Gas-fired power station, network integration study

Mozambique
| Client: |
Suez Energy International
PSD sub-contracted by Thabile Engineering |
Project Status: Completed in 2008
Project Outline
PSD conducted a feasibility level study to examine the integration of a proposed 1000MW gas-fired power station into the national grid of Mozambique. The integration formed part of EDM's future grid developments.

Project Detail
The study included:
| • |
Feasibility level study and examination of the technical issues relating to the grid integration of the proposed 1000MW gas-fired power station at Inhambane. The power station was to be connected into the existing 400kV transmisison grid at the city of Maputo; the distance involved was approximately 600km.
|
| • |
Various alternative integration solutions, e.g. 400kV and 765kV transmission systems, were identified. |
| • |
Through studies and analysis, the required transmission components (e.g. series capacitors, shunt reactors and transformers), their location and their ratings were determined to ensure that the proposed solutions were technically feasible, both from a capacity and operational point of view. |
| • |
For the preferred solution, a basic system design was prepared, which included substation single-line diagrams and transmission line high-level electrical design. |
| • |
A bill of quantities was put together and from this a basic cost estimate for the implementation of the preferred technical solution was prepared. |
| • |
PSD also examined and consulted the Client on potential project risks. |
